Progression into the epic levels is barred, except for those from Nelmachh who happened to be higher than 20th-level already when that unfortunate land was mystically transported to O'Laohod. Dreams of glory feed rumors of methods to increase one's power into the epic levels, and perhaps there is some truth to them.
