Magic for Sale

Perhaps the Church of Archum is like the Red Wizards of Thay and sell magic items created by the Chained for funds. The sale of magical items undercuts the open market and acts as good publicity in their cold war with the Nelmachhian Republic.

The Poseur

Tiamat, the World Mother, was killed by Marduk, according to the tales. Marduk bound her essense here, so the "Tiamat" found in the Nine Hells of other worlds' mythologies is merely an opportunist who took the World Mother's name. If ever freed, her retribution will be mighty.

Rex

Vermis Rex is actually the father Typhœus, a fire-breathing dragon with 100 heads that never rest. Typhœus was birthed by the titan, Gæia, in a last ditch effort to defeat the Olympians. It was usually thought that Gæia birthed Typhœus alone, but the unknown truth is that he was fathered by Vermis Rex. (This is a very well-kept secret, which is why he was not banished by Zeus to Tarterus with the rest of the titans.) Vermis Rex (new name?*) is now very, very upset that he had escaped imprisonment for so long, only to be banished to this Demi-plane of Imprisonment.

Not Good News for Sorcerers

Given the Republic's domination of Scéâdüwëan politics and law, and its enthusiastic acceptance of wizardry, the church of Archum has redirected its zeal for hunting down all unchained wizards towards sorcerers. This coincides nicely with the cultural and legal opprobrium directed towards sorcerers by Nelmachh.

Ares' Choice of Weapon

While the description of Ares will say that his preferred weapon is any sword, a cleric of Ares which selects the War Domain at first level must choose a particular type of sword as his favored weapon. This choice may not change in later levels.

Benediction of the Sword

Benediction of the Sword - rare. Grants automatic forgiveness for malicide. Malicide is justifiable killing of the wicked. In practice, it is a license to kill, especially when granted in peacetime. Usually given to fighting orders during wartime.
